Introduction
Tourism defines a language as beating to the ground; moving and walking from point to another, whether in a particular State, territory or around the world in order to reach specific needs, far from a permanent place of residence, business environment or war, there was no agreed definition of tourism but on the whole it is a social, cultural and economic phenomenon. (Glossary of tourism terms | UNWTO, 2021)
In the present, the definition of travel has changed and is linked to the term tourism, and it has become an experience and a pleasure, not just a need. Although the experiences are highly subjective and connected to individual history and identity. (Tourism & Experiences, 2021)
In this article, we will explain the developments of tourism between the past and the present.
The past:
In the past, travel was limited to need, such as treatment, education, wars, or other matters.
over the last years, the cities considered visitors to be a strange thing and an emergency to the place, and everyone looks at strangers with surprise and frowned upon, and when the tourist came to education, for example, he lived among them as if he was one of them for fear of being targeted. As an example of this orientalist traveller who went to the Middle East, in order to discover these communities, research around them, and other purposes, some Orientalists pretended to embrace Islam and changed his name in an Arab name, only so that he could do more research, as he could not be integrated into society Without this pretense.
With this strong warning, there are old tourist trips like religious tourism, and the pilgrimage is one of the first in thousand
s of years.

The present:
After tourism was limited to specific thing
s, and to specific persons such as kings and nobles, it started in the 17th century when interest in tourism began globally, and it turned out to be even wider. (Morgan Westcott, 2021)
And tourism became from something almost impossible for most people, to part of their lives, and nations competed to attract as man
y tourists as possible. The direct contribution of travel and tourism to global domestic output reached about $4.7 trillion in 2020. (Lock, 2021)
And it's an industry that keeps going up, and the competition of nations is going on, and right now countries are not just interested in the joy of tourists, but in making the tourism industry a unique experience for all people. C
ountries are volunteering technology to develop tourism, and countries are beginning to understand what distinguishes them and focus on them in order to escape the similarity of experiences.
In the past, some countries were destroying historic buildings to set up modern buildings or street expansions. UNESCO has therefo
re worked to care for its members and preserve the local heritage of States. The world has become like a single country with many cities, each with a different character, and a unique experience.
Thus, competition is in the interest of the tourist and the host State. The tourist wants pleasure, experience and well-being, and the State develops local income and attracts hard currency to her country.
To conclude:
The tourism industry is constantly and rapidly evolving, and one of the factors contributing to the growth of this sector is the development of communications and transportation, which has made it easier to reach all parts of the world in a short time compared to the past.
Also, increased income for individu
als and a higher standard of living for individuals in general.
Finally, the emergence of tourism organizations such as the International Tourism Organization (ITTO), which are concerned with the tourism sector and its components in general, has transformed tourism into a need for easy and pleasant experience.
